MOSCOW (Web Desk) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is scheduled to visit Tehran on Monday for consultations with Iranian officials, with discussions expected to focus on advancing bilateral cooperation and implementing agreements between the two countries, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.
Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali announced the visit in a post on his X account on Sunday, describing it as part of ongoing high-level consultations between Tehran and Moscow.
Jalali noted that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin met last week in Awaza, Turkmenistan. The meeting marked their third encounter within a month, highlighting continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
He said that amid rapidly evolving regional and international developments, cooperation between Iran and Russia extends beyond bilateral relations to include broader regional and global issues.
According to the ambassador, the partnership is based on a shared commitment to maintaining and strengthening peace, stability and security in their respective regions, without interference from external actors.
Lavrov’s visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the two sides to review existing agreements, discuss their implementation and exchange views on issues of mutual interest.
