KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid tribute to the victims of the Karsaz tragedy, describing October 18 as a black day in Pakistan’s history.
Bilawal said a terrorist attack was carried out in a cowardly attempt to target Shaheed Benazir Bhutto upon her return to Pakistan. He said party workers who had gathered to welcome their leader sacrificed their lives to protect her, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to democracy and the people’s right to rule.
The PPP chairman said the sacrifices of the Karsaz tragedy victims proved that terrorism, extremism and violence could not weaken the resolve for democracy. He described their sacrifices as a significant chapter in the country’s history that would always be remembered.
Bilawal said the mission of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was to uphold the Constitution, ensure people’s rule, promote equality and social justice, and build a peaceful, prosperous and developed Pakistan.
He said the PPP would continue its struggle to strengthen democratic institutions, protect the Constitution and safeguard the rights of the people.
Praying for the elevation of the victims’ ranks and patience for their bereaved families, Bilawal said their memory renewed the commitment to democracy, perseverance and sacrifice.
He added that their sacrifices would continue to inspire future generations and serve as a reminder that the struggle for public representation and democratic values must continue.
