Nawaz Sharif says emergency in KP should have been imposed earlier

Nawaz Sharif defends emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, accuses PTI of damaging the province, and says governments are working to improve public welfare.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has described the imposition of emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a necessary step, saying the situation in the province was getting out of control and the decision should have been taken earlier.

Speaking to journalists in London, Nawaz Sharif criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), alleging that the party had damaged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 13 years.

He said it was beyond comprehension how a chief minister in any country could use government resources to launch an attack on the federal capital.

The PML-N leader questioned the justification for using provincial resources against Islamabad and other provinces. He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been freed from PTI's rule.

Nawaz Sharif said PML-N remained committed to Pakistan's development and prosperity. He added that the federal and provincial governments were working to improve the lives of ordinary citizens and provide relief to the public.
