ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In the context of emergency and governor’s rule in KP, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman has said her party made efforts to resolve issues through dialogue and also persuaded the government to engage in negotiations.
Speaking in the House, Senator Sherry Rehman said that the Constitution introduced by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had kept the country united, adding that Pakistan must not be allowed to experience similar challenges again.
She emphasised that terrorism remained a red line for the PPP. Rehman said the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was behind several major incidents, including the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. She stressed the need for national unity and a comprehensive review of the country's prevailing situation.
She further urged political leaders to move away from divisive politics and focus on pressing national challenges, including education, poverty and other issues affecting the public.
