ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Reports circulating on social media about violent clashes between police and protesters in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, allegedly resulting in injuries to several police personnel and the kidnapping of some officers, have been dismissed as false and baseless.
According to a fact-check, no such incidents were reported in Bara or other parts of Khyber district, and the law and order situation in the area remains under control.
Several domestic and international social media accounts affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) circulated claims of intense clashes between police and protesters.
The posts alleged that several police officers had been injured and some had been taken hostage by protesters.
The fact-check further claimed that certain Afghan and local elements, along with some PTI politicians, had attempted to disrupt peace in the area. However, it said that police responded promptly and brought the situation under control.
The local administration also maintained that the situation remains peaceful, with no protesters on the streets. It rejected reports of police personnel being injured or kidnapped.
Officials urged the public not to rely on unverified social media reports and advised people to confirm information through credible and official sources before sharing it.
