INDIA (Web Desk) - India’s opening batter Abhishek Sharma has set a new world record by becoming the fastest player to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 International cricket in terms of balls faced.

Sharma reached the milestone in just 1,024 balls, surpassing former India captain Suryakumar Yadav, who took 1,164 balls to reach the same mark.

In the third T20I against the West Indies in Indore, Sharma produced an aggressive innings, scoring 69 runs off just 30 balls.

He also completed his half-century in only 18 balls, putting the opposition bowlers under intense pressure.

In the list of players reaching 2,000 T20I runs in the fewest balls, Austria’s Karanbir Singh ranks third, followed by Australia’s Aaron Finch in fourth place and the UAE’s Muhammad Waseem in fifth.
