Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz launches mobile healthcare for 4.6 million workers and families, with expansion to 12 additional districts planned by March 2027.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the Social Security Mobile Health Programme to provide healthcare services to more than 4.6 million industrial workers and their families in Lahore, Kasur and Sheikhupura.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, registered workers will receive medical services at their workplaces, while their family members will be provided healthcare at home. The programme is scheduled to expand to 12 additional districts and cities by March 2027.

The additional areas include Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Rawalpindi.

During the inauguration, Maryam Nawaz inspected a mobile social security hospital, a mobile dental hospital and mobile health bikes. She received a briefing on the medicines and medical equipment available on the bikes and checked her temperature using one of the devices.

Provincial Labour Minister Mian Manshaullah Butt and Secretary Danish Afzal briefed the chief minister on the programme. She also met doctors and staff working at the mobile hospitals.

Maryam Nawaz later visited the outpatient department of Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital and the Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Cardiac Centre, where she inquired about patients' health. She prayed for the speedy recovery of patients in the cardiology ward and praised a woman who was accompanying a patient.

The chief minister said more than 10 million industrial workers and their families were receiving treatment and medicines through Punjab's 24 social security hospitals. She added that healthcare services were also being provided through 250 medical outlets operated by the Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI).

Maryam Nawaz said the mobile health programme would bring healthcare directly to workers at their workplaces and to their families at home. The initiative would help ensure timely diagnosis and treatment while reducing the burden on hospitals, she added.

She said mobile health units would provide medical services wherever workers were employed, including factories, commercial establishments and industrial units. The programme aims to improve access to quality healthcare for registered workers and their families.
