A Pakistani national was killed and 11 people injured in a projectile attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, a day after a deadlier strike.

RIYADH (Dunya News) – A Pakistani national was killed and 11 people were injured in a projectile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed.

According to a statement issued by the civil aviation authority, the injured were immediately shifted to hospitals for medical treatment. The attack also caused material damage to the airport, with authorities assessing the extent of the damage and inspecting the safety of airport facilities.

Saudi authorities also said a missile fired by Houthi rebels had been intercepted in the air.

The latest attack came a day after another strike on Riyadh airport killed 12 people and injured more than 300, according to reports. The Saudi-led coalition attributed Saturday’s attack to Yemen’s Houthi group, which has claimed responsibility for strikes targeting Saudi facilities.

The repeated attacks have raised security concerns around the kingdom’s main airport. Saudi authorities have been assessing damage and carrying out safety inspections following the strikes, while airport operations have been disrupted.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the reported injuries to Pakistani citizens in the attack on King Khalid International Airport.

In a message, the prime minister prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured. He said Pakistan’s embassy in Riyadh was in close contact with Saudi authorities and was providing all possible assistance to the affected families.
