Security tightened around Adiala Jail after emergency imposed in KP

Updated on:

Security has been tightened around Adiala Jail, with extra police, Anti-Riot Force deployment and eight planned checkpoints on Adiala Road following the KP emergency.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Security has been tightened around Adiala Jail and adjoining areas following the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with additional police personnel deployed and new checkpoints planned on Adiala Road.

According to police sources, additional personnel have been deployed across a six-kilometre area surrounding Adiala Jail to deal with any possible security situation. The Anti-Riot Force has also been deployed as part of the security arrangements.

Sources said eight new checkpoints would be established at different locations along Adiala Road. Vehicles passing through these checkpoints would be searched, while citizens would also be required to present their national identity cards for checking.

Police have advised residents living along Adiala Road and in nearby areas to keep their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) with them to avoid inconvenience while travelling.

The Rawalpindi district administration has already imposed Section 144 in the area until November 8, restricting activities covered by the order.

The security measures come amid heightened tensions following the federal government’s imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11, 2026.
