ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has introduced several new features on the Pakistan Hajj App to facilitate intending pilgrims, allowing them to make changes to their Hajj packages and accommodation from home.
According to a ministry statement issued on Saturday, pilgrims can now modify the duration of their Hajj package without visiting an office. They can also choose between two-bed, three-bed, family-room and shared accommodation through the app.
The ministry said pilgrims would also be able to switch from a long Hajj package to a short package, or vice versa, from the comfort of their homes.
The process of obtaining medical fitness certificates has also been integrated into the digital system. Pilgrims can print the fitness certificate through the Pakistan Hajj App, have it verified by an authorised doctor and then upload the verified certificate again on the app or Hajj portal.
Overseas Pakistanis can obtain their medical fitness certificates from doctors near their place of residence and upload the verified documents through the app, according to the ministry.
Successful Hajj applicants will also be able to apply for a mahram or helper under the hardship quota through the digital platform. A feature has additionally been introduced to facilitate cancellation of Hajj applications and refunds in case of unavoidable circumstances.
Meanwhile, private Hajj bookings are continuing through the Digital Hajj Portal developed by the National Information Technology Board.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs warned pilgrims against making private Hajj bookings or payments outside the official Hajj portal.
It said 26,000 applications had so far been completed under the private Hajj scheme, while 45,000 seats remain available.
