KOHAT (Dunya News) - The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is continuing its investigation into the September 18 suicide attack on the old Police Lines in Kohat, with investigators examining the attackers’ movements and support network.
According to investigative officials, the attackers used an explosives-laden vehicle and a rickshaw to reach the Police Lines. The suspected suicide bomber travelled in the rickshaw, while two other attackers arrived on motorcycles.
The investigators said the attackers were carrying improvised explosive devices (IEDs), hand grenades and heavy weapons when they reached the target.
Officials said the attackers had conducted reconnaissance of the Police Lines several times before carrying out the attack, suggesting that the location and access routes had been examined beforehand.
The investigation has also been extended to facilitators who may have assisted the attackers. Officials said those being investigated include individuals who provided them with accommodation and helped facilitate their access to the Police Lines.
Several important pieces of evidence collected from the scene have been sent for forensic analysis, officials said.
The CTD is continuing its investigation to establish the full network behind the attack and determine the roles of those involved.
