BHOWANA (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court has acquitted both accused in the murder case of Assistant Commissioner Imran Jaffer.
A sessions court had sentenced Sohail Asghar to death and his father, Asghar Ali, to life imprisonment. Both convicts had challenged their sentences before the Lahore High Court.
A division bench comprising Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry and Justice Sardar Akbar Dogar heard the appeals.
The court acquitted the accused after finding that the presence of eyewitnesses at the scene had not been established. Contradictions between the witnesses’ statements and the medical report were also cited as grounds for acquittal.
Assistant Commissioner Imran Jaffer was shot dead on December 5, 2021. Asghar Ali and his son, Sohail Asghar, had been nominated in the murder case.
