MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has amended welfare fund rules, increasing farewell assistance and monthly welfare grants for government employees in grades 16 to 22.
According to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department, the amendments were made under Section 23 of the AJK Employees Benevolent Fund and Group Insurance Act, 1971.
Under the revised rules, every gazetted government employee will contribute 2% of their basic salary to the welfare fund each month, subject to a maximum monthly contribution of Rs2,000.
Employees in grades 16 to 22 will receive farewell assistance equivalent to one basic salary upon retirement. The benefit will be available not only to employees retiring upon reaching the prescribed age but also to those retiring after completing 25 years of qualifying service.
The notification also provides for a 20% increase in monthly welfare assistance. The amounts listed from serial numbers one to 10 in the First Schedule will be increased accordingly.
The Services and General Administration Department said corresponding amendments have also been made to the AJK Employees Benevolent Fund and Group Insurance Rules, 1972.
