RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Security forces have killed 33 militants in separate counterterrorism operations across Balochistan since September 21, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The latest operations included intensified action under Operation Shaban as well as an intelligence-based operation in Nushki. ISPR said weapons, ammunition and explosive material were also recovered from militant hideouts during the operations.
Operation Shaban
Five more militants were killed during Operation Shaban, taking the total number of militants killed in the operation to 22, the military’s media wing said.
According to ISPR, the militants were “Indian-sponsored Khwarij”. Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition and explosives from their hideouts during the operation.
Clearance operations in the Operation Shaban area remain underway, with ISPR saying troops will continue the search until the threat has been completely eliminated.
Nushki operation
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Nushki, security forces targeted a militant hideout following information about the presence of terrorists.
ISPR said the operation resulted in an intense exchange of fire between security forces and the militants. Eleven militants were killed during the encounter.
The Nushki operation accounts for the remaining 11 deaths in the overall figure of 33 militants killed in Balochistan since September 21, while 22 were killed during Operation Shaban.
Operation Azm-e-Istehkam
ISPR said security forces and law-enforcement agencies are continuing counterterrorism operations across Balochistan under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.
The military said the latest actions were part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant threats and secure areas where armed groups have established hideouts.
