LAHORE (Web Desk) – The Vision Alliance secured all 15 seats in the Associate Class of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) elections, according to the election results announced on Thursday.
The Associate Class had more than 19,000 registered voters, with 9,728 votes cast during polling, according to the figures provided by the election authorities.
Vision Alliance received 4,523 panel votes, while PPBA Alliance secured 3,470 panel votes. PIAF Mian Shafqat received 39 panel votes, while 310 votes were rejected and 1,386 were recorded as split votes.
The results meant that PPBA Alliance did not secure any of the 15 Associate Class seats.
The Associate Class polling followed the Corporate Class election, in which Vision Alliance secured 13 of the 15 Executive Committee seats, while PPBA Alliance won two, according to reports on the preliminary results.
The two-stage election covers 30 Executive Committee seats, with 15 seats contested by each class.
Vision Alliance leader Khawaja Shahzaib Akram thanked members of Lahore's business community following the results and said the alliance would work on the commitments made to traders and businesses.
The newly elected office-bearers, including presidential nominee Ali Hassam Asghar, along with the senior vice president and vice president, are scheduled to assume their offices from Oct. 1.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also conveyed her good wishes to Ali Hassam Asghar and other Vision Alliance representatives following the election and expressed hope that the new LCCI office-bearers would support the development of trade and industry in Punjab.
