KARACHI (Dunya News) - The vaccination centre for international travellers at Jinnah International Airport will operate round the clock from September 24, with vaccines being administered according to travel requirements.
The International Traveller Vaccination Centre has been established at the Civil Dispensary near the Airport Health Quarantine Star Gate. Border Health Services said vaccination requirements for Pakistani passport holders travelling abroad would depend on their destination, transit points and travel schedule.
Officials said the fee for the meningitis vaccine has been fixed at Rs2,785, while the influenza vaccine will cost Rs1,720. Polio vaccination will be provided free of charge to international travellers.
The influenza vaccine can be administered from the age of one year, while the meningitis vaccine is available for travellers aged 12 and above. Polio vaccination will be required once a year.
Under the current arrangements, pregnant women will only be administered the influenza vaccine, while breastfeeding mothers can receive all three vaccines.
Officials said travellers facing difficulties with biometric verification would be referred to authorised staff, and manual vaccination certificates could be issued where necessary. Payment receipts through NADRA, Pak ID or e-Sahulat will remain valid for 90 days.
Foreign nationals have been exempted from these vaccination requirements. Travel agents have also been directed to take immediate steps to ensure vaccination verification for passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia.
Airlines, travel agents and ground handlers have been instructed to inform passengers about the vaccination requirements. Fake or suspicious vaccination certificates will not be accepted, and violators may face legal action.
Authorities said interference in the health verification process or violation of official instructions could result in imprisonment for up to six months or a fine of up to Rs100,000. The new arrangements will remain in force until 10am on October 10.
