ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has said the government will not allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to travel to Islamabad and disturb the peace under any circumstances.
Speaking to a private television channel, Tarar said the government would take strong measures to prevent anyone from disrupting law whom the government should engage with for talks. He claimed that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar had little influence within the party.
The information minister alleged that PTI had not demonstrated peaceful protest in the past and warned the party to reconsider its approach, saying otherwise it would face consequences it would remember.
Tarar also addressed the reported arrests of Imran Khan’s sisters, saying they were detained based on what he described as credible information that they could cause a law-and-order situation.
Questioning who was currently making decisions within PTI, Tarar asked whom the government should engage with for talks. He claimed that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar had little influence within the party and said there was no justification or benefit in negotiating with the individuals currently calling for dialogue.
Tarar further said the government did not trust PTI’s statements and questioned the authority of those advocating negotiations.
