LAHORE (Dunya News) — Pakistan Railways has inaugurated a new rake for the Karakoram Express, which operates between Lahore and Karachi.
Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Hafizullah inaugurated the new rake at Lahore Railway Station.
The new rake comprises 10 economy-class coaches, two business-class coaches and two lower-AC coaches. It also includes a power plant, a brake van and two luggage vans.
Speaking to the media at the inauguration ceremony, Hafizullah said the new rake would provide improved travel facilities to passengers using the Karakoram Express.
He said Pakistan Railways was gradually upgrading additional passenger trains as part of its efforts to improve services and provide modern facilities to travellers.
The CEO said measures were being taken to ensure better and more comfortable facilities for railway passengers across the country.
The new rake was prepared at the Islamabad Carriage Factory and arrived in Lahore several days before its formal inauguration.
The Karakoram Express is a non-stop passenger train operating between Lahore and Karachi.
