UNITED NATIONS (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar flew into New York on Sunday afternoon to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
He was received at Kennedy International airport by Pakistan UN Ambassador, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Consul General in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai and senior officials of the Pakistan Mission and the consulate General.
DPM/FM Dar will go through a tight schedule of engagements at the United Nations.
He will participate in the meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir during which he will highlight Pakistan’s unwavering support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris.
The Deputy Prime Minister will also attend several OIC Ministerial meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA, including OIC Foreign Ministers’ Annual Coordination Meeting, as well as other OIC Contact Group meetings.
He will attend several high-level meetings on Palestine, including the meeting of the Group of Eight Arab Islamic countries, as well as the High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, among others.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will deliver a statement during the UN Security Council high-level briefing on the issue of Artificial Intelligence, in addition to attending the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.
He will also chair the meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers.
DPM/FM Dar will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from several countries, in addition to accompanying the Prime Minister during high-level bilateral meetings and engagements.
During his engagements, he will highlight Pakistan’s ongoing efforts for regional and international peace and stability, and exchange views on important regional and international challenges.
