LAHORE (Dunya News) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met members of the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team and praised the young players for their strong performances in England.
During the meeting, the PCB decided to award central contracts to the Under-19 players for the first time, a move aimed at encouraging them to continue improving their performances.
Head coach Shahid Anwar said Naqvi invited the players following their performances in England, met them individually and appreciated their efforts.
Naqvi said the central contracts would encourage the young cricketers to perform at a higher level. He added that recognition for good performances would also help boost the players’ confidence.
Pakistan Under-19 captain Farhan Yousuf said the development camps held in Multan over the past two years had benefited the players and produced positive results. He described the meeting with the PCB chairman and the central contracts as encouraging for the squad.
Alyan Salman said the contracts would increase the players’ confidence and motivation while allowing them to focus more closely on their cricket.
Jehangir Bilal said the contracts would also enable young players to provide financial support to their families.
