(Web Desk) - Pakistan women’s cricket team will take on Sri Lanka in the first semi-final of the women’s cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to begin at 5am Pakistan time in Nisshin. The second semi-final between Bangladesh and India will also be played at the same venue at 10am Pakistan time.
Pakistan booked their place in the last four after securing a three-wicket victory over Thailand in a rain-affected quarter-final.
The match was reduced to 11 overs per side, with Thailand posting 91 for four. Pakistan chased down the revised target of 92 with two deliveries to spare.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, reached the semi-finals after defeating Malaysia by 86 runs. Sri Lanka scored 160 for four in their allotted 20 overs before limiting Malaysia to 74 for seven.
Sunday’s contest will be a repeat of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup semi-final earlier this month, where Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by four wickets in Dubai.
Pakistan will be without wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali for the rest of the Asian Games after she returned home due to her mother’s illness. Gull Feroza has taken over wicketkeeping responsibilities and is also expected to open the innings.
Captain Fatima Sana will be one of Pakistan’s key players in the semi-final. She was also selected as one of Pakistan’s two flag-bearers for the Asian Games opening ceremony alongside squash player Noor Zaman.
The winner of the semi-final will qualify for Tuesday’s gold-medal match, while the losing side will have a chance to compete for the bronze medal.
