ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has withdrawn its earlier decision regarding the implementation of a five-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme.
According to the PMDC, the notification issued earlier regarding the framework of the five-year BDS programme has been withdrawn.
The council had announced its decision concerning the five-year BDS programme on July 8.
The PMDC said a comprehensive review of the academic structure and curriculum of the BDS programme has now been initiated. The council will also review the existing framework for house job and internship requirements under the programme.
The PMDC said a further decision regarding the five-year BDS programme would be taken after completion of the comprehensive review.
It added that further details regarding the revised BDS framework would be shared once the review process is completed.
The PMDC has also sent a letter to recognised medical and dental universities across the country, informing them about the decision.
