KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi police have arrested two alleged members, including a woman, during an operation against a major drug trafficking network and recovered 19 kilograms of narcotics.
DIG East Farukh Lanjhar, accompanied by Korangi SSP Fida Hussain, said during a press conference that the seized drugs were worth Rs250 million, according to police.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Hira and Zeeshan, who are reportedly sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
According to police, Hira’s husband, Parvez, her son and other relatives are also allegedly involved in the sale and transportation of drugs.
Officials said the network is allegedly operated by a woman named Mahwish, who is currently in Lahore and reportedly arranges narcotics from Afghanistan for distribution in Karachi and other parts of the country.
Police further claimed that the arrested suspects were responsible for selling and transporting drugs for the network in Karachi.
The narcotics were allegedly branded as “Cobra 728,” police said.
Further investigation into the arrested suspects is underway, while police are conducting raids to apprehend other individuals allegedly linked to the network.
