ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani has formally requested the Asian Hockey Federation to relocate the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 tournament, or all of Pakistan’s matches, to a neutral venue.
Wani said the decision was taken in view of the current sensitive situation between Pakistan and India and security concerns, with the aim of ensuring a safe, dignified and conducive environment for the national players and officials.
He added that Pakistan remains fully committed to the Asian Champions Trophy and the promotion of international hockey. He said Pakistan is ready to compete against India and all other FIH member countries on the field and remains committed to keeping sports free from politics.
Wani expressed hope that the Asian Hockey Federation would positively consider Pakistan’s proposal for a neutral venue to ensure the country’s uninterrupted and full participation in the tournament.
The Asian Champions Trophy is scheduled to feature Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Malaysia and Korea. The tournament will be held from October 27 to November 5 in Jalandhar and Mohali, India.
