Momina Iqbal reveals she contemplated suicide days before wedding

Momina Iqbal claimed that she had been threatened with the alleged release of her private pictures and personal material on social media

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has made fresh allegations against Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chaddhar, accusing him of harassment, blackmail and threats amid an ongoing dispute.

In a recent interview, Momina Iqbal claimed that she had been threatened with the alleged release of her private pictures and personal material on social media.

Actress said the situation became so difficult that she was thinking about suicide 12 days before her wedding.

She recalled that Chaddhar had approached her family with a marriage proposal, but her father had sought time before giving his consent. She claimed that months later, messages from Chaddhar’s first wife revealed to her that he was already married.

The actor said her fiancé, Hamza, continued to support her despite the controversy and described his backing as a major source of strength.

Iqbal also denied claims that she had been engaged to Chaddhar, questioning how such a claim could be made without photographs of an engagement ceremony.

She reportedly showed chat records and other documents during the interview, saying they contradicted aspects of the timeline previously presented by Chaddhar.

Iqbal also rejected the suggestion that she was pursuing a financial settlement, saying she wanted the facts of the dispute to come before the public.

The controversy has also entered the legal sphere. The NCCIA issued fresh notices to both parties on September 3 after new digital evidence emerged and formed a special team to examine the new material alongside the previous investigation record.

The team has been given one month to complete its inquiry and submit its findings to the agency’s director general.
