ISLAMABAD (Dunya Nws) – President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the conferment of the Tamgha-e-Shujaat on Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) staff nurse Razia Noreen in recognition of her bravery during a fire incident at the hospital.
According to an official statement, Razia Noreen put her own life at risk during the fire and successfully rescued the only child who survived the incident, bringing the child to safety. The decision recognizes the nurse's courageous actions during the emergency at PIMS.
The Tamgha-e-Shujaat is being awarded to acknowledge her act of courage and dedication while carrying out her responsibilities during the emergency.
The president also approved a number of summaries presented for consideration.
The approved summaries included the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) Amendment Bill 2026 and the Standard Time (Interpretation of References) Amendment Bill 2026.
The approvals also cover a revision to the Table of Organization and Equipment of the Armed Forces Institute of Urology (AFIU) in Rawalpindi.
Another approved measure relates to the environmentally friendly management of hazardous materials present on ships. The measure is titled the Bill 2026 concerning the management of hazardous materials on ships in an environmentally responsible manner.
