NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has said Pakistan declares its full support for Saudi Arabia’s defensive measures against Houthi attacks.
Pakistani delegate Asim Iftikhar, while addressing the United Nations Security Council meeting on the situation in Yemen, condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed concern over the situation in Yemen.
He said that Pakistan supports the sovereignty and security of Saudi Arabia, adding that attacks in Bab al-Mandab will affect the world economy.
On the other hand, the Yemeni delegate called on the international community to take steps to stop the supply of weapons to the Houthis, and described the Houthis' aggressive actions as a serious threat to regional security.

Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis before it entered restricted airspace around Makkah, the Saudi-led coalition said Tuesday.
— المتحدث الرسمي باسم قوات التحالف (@CJFCSpox) September 15, 2026In a statement posted on X, coalition spokesperson Turki al-Malki said the drone was intercepted south of the city and described it as the second Houthi attempt to target Makkah, citing a ballistic missile launch in July 2017.
He said the coalition would take what he called necessary deterrent measures against further attacks, according to the statement.
“The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a drone that attempted to enter the airspace of the Holy Capital,” coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki said in a statement posted on X.
“The hostile drone was intercepted south of the city of Makkah al-Mukarramah, ” he said.
Al-Malki emphasized that the security of the Two Holy Mosques and “the guests of the Most Merciful” is a red line, stressing that the coalition’s Joint Forces Command would not hesitate to take necessary measures against the Houthi militia and its “hostile, terrorist behavior.”
