MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani has directed authorities to shift major transport terminals out of Muzaffarabad city as part of measures to improve traffic management and urban planning.
The directives were issued during separate meetings chaired by the prime minister on traffic management, the relocation of public transport facilities, and matters concerning the Department of Local Government and Rural Development.
During a meeting on traffic management and the public transport relocation plan, Prime Minister Gilani ordered an immediate inspection of proposed sites for a new Lorry Adda and directed officials to submit a report on the findings.
He also called for the immediate removal of illegal transport stands and stressed the need for permanent solutions to the city's traffic problems instead of temporary measures.
The prime minister directed officials to consider future transportation requirements while planning new bus terminals. He further ordered the preparation of feasibility studies for road expansion and alternative routes to improve traffic flow.
Gilani also instructed authorities to accelerate the relocation of the vegetable market to its designated site.
He directed officials to improve the appearance of the city's entry points and make them cleaner and more attractive. A plan was also sought for the modern redesign and renovation of Neelum Park and Tahli Mandi.
