Babar Azam set to return to domestic first-class cricket

Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam is set to return to domestic first-class cricket as a guest player for OGDCL in the ongoing President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam is set to return to domestic first-class cricket, featuring as a guest player for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in the ongoing President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.

Reports said OGDCL has signed Babar as a guest player for the current edition of the President’s Trophy Grade-I.

Babar had reportedly requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to include him in a domestic team’s squad so that he could remain connected with the longer format of the game and maintain his preparation for Test cricket.

Following the request, the PCB arranged for Babar to join OGDCL as a guest player for the tournament.

PCB has confirmed the schedule of the President’s Trophy Grade-I first-class tournament along with the team rosters of all the eight outfits participating in it. The first red-ball tournament of the 2026-27 domestic cricket season is set to begin from 12 September and will conclude with the five-day final on 28 October.
