President Zardari confers Nishan-i-Imtiaz upon Indonesian Naval chief

The conferment of the award recognizes Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali's contribution to the promotion of relations between the two navies

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Indonesian Naval Chief Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali at a special investiture ceremony in Islamabad on Monday.

The conferment of the award recognizes Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali's contribution to the promotion of relations between the two navies.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, members of Parliament and members of the diplomatic community.

Earlier, Chief of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali called on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation, the military’s media wing said.

According to ISPR, both sides expressed satisfaction over the existing military-to-military relations and reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises.

Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its longstanding and brotherly relations with Indonesia, particularly in the defence and security domains.
