ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Loss-making state-owned enterprises (SOEs) recorded a combined loss of Rs342.8 billion from July to December 2025, while profitable state entities earned Rs423.3 billion during the period.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises, chaired by the finance minister, reviewed the performance of government-owned entities.
According to the Finance Ministry, the government provided Rs804 billion in financial support to SOEs during the period, while state-owned entities contributed Rs839 billion to the government.
Overall, SOEs generated a net financial profit of Rs35 billion, according to the official statement.
The committee directed authorities to improve financial discipline in state-owned entities and reduce their reliance on public resources. It also called for faster reforms in consistently loss-making organizations.
The meeting reviewed operational weaknesses in the power and infrastructure sectors, along with issues related to circular debt and financial risks.
The Finance Ministry said the committee appreciated progress in the digital monitoring system for tracking SOE performance.
The meeting also approved the appointment of independent directors to the board of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan.
