BAGHDAD (Dunya News) - Iraq has announced the resumption of passenger traffic at three border crossings with Iran that were temporarily closed following a drone attack on a Saudi oil pipeline, according to officials.
Iraqi authorities said the Al-Shib border crossing, located along the Iranian border, would reopen to passengers on Sunday.
Passenger movement will also resume at the Shalamcheh border crossing in Basra province, officials said.
Authorities further announced that commercial activities at the Shalamcheh crossing are expected to resume by the end of the current week.
The decision comes after Iraq temporarily suspended operations at several crossings with Iran in the aftermath of the drone attack on a Saudi oil pipeline.

The border crossings are important routes for the movement of passengers and goods between Iraq and Iran, with their operations playing a significant role in cross-border trade and travel.

The resumption of passenger and commercial traffic is expected to facilitate movement between the two neighbouring countries and restore trade activity that was disrupted by the temporary closures.
The development comes amid heightened regional security concerns following the attack on the Saudi energy infrastructure.
