ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has begun considering a relief package for motorcyclists following a continued increase in petroleum product prices.
Initially, a proposal is under consideration to provide each motorcyclist Rs2,000 per month for three months. The Petroleum and Finance ministries have started working on the proposed scheme on the prime minister’s directives.
According to sources, the relief is proposed to be provided through a fuel app. The monthly relief of Rs2,000 would enable motorcyclists to purchase around five litres of petrol.
However, the Finance Ministry has rejected proposals to reduce the petroleum levy or use funds from the Rs430 billion emergency fund due to conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The proposed relief scheme is currently under consideration, while the relevant ministries are working on its details, sources said.
