LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas matched a 27-year-old record held by legendary pacer Wasim Akram during the third Test against England, producing a notable all-round performance with both bat and ball.
Abbas made a valuable contribution with the bat, scoring 42 runs and sharing a 121-run ninth-wicket partnership with Razaullah. Their stand helped Pakistan post a total of 449 runs and put their side in a strong position in the match.
England began their chase of the 130-run target set by Pakistan, but Abbas made an immediate impact with the ball. The experienced fast bowler dismissed England's first two batters in the opening over, giving Pakistan a crucial start in their defence of the target.
The achievement saw Abbas equal a record previously set by Wasim Akram in 1999. The Pakistan legend had taken two wickets during the opening over of a Test innings, a feat Abbas has now repeated 27 years later.
Abbas has been one of Pakistan's standout performers in the series against England. He finished the series with 13 wickets and was named Pakistan's Player of the Series for his impressive contribution with the ball.
