(Web Desk) - A new theory suggests that Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza may contain a hidden mathematical system linked to the Moon, stars and planets.
According to a report by a British newspaper, researcher Saifi Levy claims that numerical patterns can be found in various measurements of the Great Pyramid, including its height, base and sloping sides. He argues that these patterns could reflect the ancient Egyptians’ knowledge of mathematics and astronomy.
The theory is based on a paper published on SSRN, although the research has not yet undergone formal peer review by experts.
Levy examined key measurements of the Great Pyramid using fractions associated with ancient Egyptian mathematical methods. He claims that some of the resulting figures show similarities with astronomical cycles and mathematical constants.
One calculation reportedly produces the number 27.5, which Levy associates with the approximately 27.55-day interval between two successive lunar perigees — the points at which the Moon comes closest to Earth.
Another calculation produces the number 70, which he links to the roughly 70-day period during which Sirius was not visible because of the Sun’s intense light.
The researcher further claims that some of his calculations correspond to the movements of planets including Jupiter, Saturn, Venus and Mars. The theory also points to possible connections with mathematical constants such as pi (π) and the Golden Ratio.
To examine whether the patterns could have occurred by chance, Levy reportedly compared the results with measurements generated from 100,000 computer-created pyramid models. He found similar patterns in around 2.4% of the models.
According to Levy, the finding may indicate that the dimensions of the Great Pyramid were deliberately arranged in a particular way. However, he acknowledges that this does not prove that the ancient Egyptians built the monument as a mathematical or astronomical code.
The Great Pyramid was constructed around 4,500 years ago during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu and is traditionally regarded as part of his funerary complex.
Levy offers a different interpretation, suggesting that the pyramid may have been designed not only as a tomb but also as a means of preserving ancient knowledge.
He has also proposed a possible connection with the “Benben”, a sacred primordial mound associated with the beginning of creation in ancient Egyptian mythology.
