ABU DHABI (Dunya News) - Algeria has announced a ban on Emirati aircraft entering or transiting through its airspace, marking another escalation in tensions between Algiers and the United Arab Emirates.
According to Algerian authorities, aircraft operated by the UAE will no longer be permitted to enter Algerian airspace or use it as a transit route.
However, selected commercial flights connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi with Algeria will continue to operate.
Algeria’s Ministry of Defence said UAE commercial airlines have been granted temporary permission to use the country’s airspace until the end of the year.
The temporary arrangement will also allow Emirati commercial flights to continue operating at Algiers International Airport through the end of the year, according to officials.

The restrictions come days after Algeria announced that it was severing diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, further deepening the dispute between the two countries.
The latest measures are expected to have an impact on air connectivity between Algeria and the UAE, although commercial links will remain partially operational under the temporary exemptions.
The developments underscore the growing strain in bilateral relations, with both sides facing heightened diplomatic tensions following Algeria’s decision to cut ties with Abu Dhabi.
