LAHORE (Dunya News) – JI emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said the government has placed the burden of taxes on the poor. Instead of reducing its lavish spending, the government is collecting levies.
Addressing a sit-in here on Thursday, the JI chief said that the government has decided to drop petrol bombs on people and has increased petroleum prices using the excuse of the global market.
He said no one, including students, farmers, laborers, teachers, is exempt from the levy. “The rulers do not reduce their lavish spending. The price of everything increases with the increase in the price of petrol. People were not aware of the levy allowance. JI told the people that the government is robbing in the name of levy,” the JI chief went on saying.
“11,000 schools in Punjab have been sold. 52 percent of children failed in the ninth grade. Government schools are being sold and schools are being built in the name of Aba Jan. A drama is being played by building a few schools in the name of Nawaz Sharif,” he added.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman asked the participants, "Are you people ready for Islamabad's call? We will come out on such a large scale, we will force them to retreat.
“Seeing your passion, my heart is beating fast, I want to announce that I will go to Islamabad right now,” he said.
JI said there will be a meeting of the entire leadership on Friday (today) at 3 pm. The entire JI has called the leadership from across the country to Mansoura for consultation.
“I will announce the date of the long march in a rally in Gujranwala. The final date will be decided in a meeting with the leadership,” the JI chief said.
