LAHORE (Dunya News) – National cricketers Muhammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) after being summoned in connection with information obtained from their mobile phones.
According to sources, both cricketers requested additional time from the NCCIA to respond to the notices issued to them.
The NCCIA had earlier summoned Imam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Rizwan and another national cricketer to investigate information obtained from their mobile phones.
According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken custody of the cricketers’ mobile phones and sent them to the relevant authorities, following which the NCCIA issued notices to the players and summoned them.
Sources said notices were issued to Imam-ul-Haq and Muhammad Rizwan, while another cricketer had also received a notice from the NCCIA.
According to sources, the agency will investigate the information obtained from the players’ mobile phones. The PCB has so far not disclosed why the cricketers’ mobile phones were taken into custody.
The development comes after Pakistan suffered heavy defeats in the first two Tests of the ongoing series against England. Following the Lord’s Test, the PCB took action on an emergency basis and separated seven players and coaches from the team.
The seven players separated by the PCB included Muhammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal, Awais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad. Head coach Sarfraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul were also released.
