Combining Mughal and Rajput architectural styles, Sobia Palace is a distinctive masterpiece in Islamabad. The palace was conceived and built by Zahid Butt as an expression of love for his wife and a lasting tribute to their relationship.
According to the report, construction of Sobia Palace began between 1975 and 1978. Zahid Butt built the palace to express his love for his wife and to commemorate their silver wedding anniversary.
The purpose behind constructing the palace was not merely to create a beautiful building but also to preserve traditional architecture and craftsmanship.
According to Zahid Butt, his wedding had initially been a simple ceremony. However, on the occasion of their silver jubilee, he arranged a grand celebration for his wife.
During the celebration, his wife was dressed as a bride and weighed against silver. He said this was the occasion when a new chapter in their love story began alongside the construction of the unique masterpiece.
As visitors enter Sobia Palace, they get a feeling of stepping into a royal era of the past. Handcrafted carvings, intricate workmanship, domes and traditional decorative elements across different sections of the palace add to its beauty.
