ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday met newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Syed Iftikhar Ali Gilani, with the two leaders discussing the overall situation in AJK, law and order, development priorities and ongoing public welfare projects.

Shehbaz congratulated Gilani on his election and assumption of office as the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and extended his best wishes for his tenure.

During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on peace and security, development matters and welfare initiatives being undertaken across the region.

The prime minister assured the AJK leadership that the federal government would continue extending full cooperation to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government for the welfare of its people and the region’s development.

Shehbaz reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to taking all possible measures aimed at promoting the development, prosperity and well-being of the Kashmiri people.

AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Ali Gilani thanked Shehbaz for his support and said his government would utilise all available capabilities and resources to advance development and improve the welfare of people across the region.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah.
