PSX extends losing streak to third session as KSE-100 sheds 698 points

Updated on:

Pakistan Stock Exchange remained under pressure for a third consecutive session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index falling 698 points to close at 171,943.

KARACHI (Dunya News)  -The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its losing streak for a third consecutive session on Wednesday as selling pressure kept the benchmark KSE-100 Index in negative territory.

The KSE-100 Index closed at 171,943 points, down 698 points from the previous session, reflecting continued cautious sentiment among investors.

The decline followed another weak session on Tuesday, when the benchmark index had dropped 993 points to settle at 172,642 points.

The latest fall means the market has remained under pressure for three straight trading sessions, interrupting its earlier momentum and prompting investors to adopt a more cautious approach.

During Wednesday's session, bearish sentiment dominated trading as the index struggled to sustain gains and eventually finished substantially lower.

The consecutive declines have also eroded market capitalisation, resulting in losses for investors as share prices came under pressure across the market.

The latest close represents a decline of about 0.4% from Tuesday's closing level.

Market participants will now be watching whether the benchmark can find support around current levels or whether selling pressure continues into the remaining sessions of the trading week.

The direction of the market is also likely to remain sensitive to domestic economic developments, interest-rate expectations, corporate performance and overall investor confidence.
