KARACHI (Dunya News) – A fire broke out at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters on M.A. Jinnah Road on Tuesday, completely destroying the office of Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. No casualties were reported in the incident.
According to fire brigade officials, the fire started in the kitchen adjacent to the mayor’s office and spread to the office, causing extensive damage. Three fire tenders were deployed to bring the blaze under control, and firefighters managed to extinguish the fire.
Officials said the cause of the fire could not immediately be determined and further investigation would be required to establish how the blaze started.
The incident occurred at the KMC head office located on M.A. Jinnah Road, which houses the municipal corporation’s central administrative offices.
The fire comes a day after a major blaze broke out at a clothes factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone. The fire caused extensive damage to the factory, with rescue officials later declaring the affected building dangerous.
Authorities are expected to determine the cause of the KMC fire following an assessment of the damage and investigation into the incident.
