KANDHKOT (Dunya News) - At least five people were killed and several others injured when a passenger coach overturned near Kandhkot in Sindh on Sunday night, rescue officials said. According to rescue sources, the accident occurred near Saifal, where the speeding coach went out of the driver’s control and overturned. Five passengers died at the scene, while several others sustained injuries in the accident.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site after receiving information about the crash and launched an operation to evacuate the passengers.

Police said the ill-fated coach was travelling from Thul to Lahore and was carrying members of a Tablighi Jamaat.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals. Authorities said the identities of those killed had not yet been established.

Rescue officials said darkness at the accident site was creating difficulties for teams involved in the rescue operation.

Emergency measures were also put in place at relevant hospitals soon after authorities were informed about the accident to ensure medical treatment for the injured.

The exact number and condition of the injured were not immediately available.

Initial information suggested that speeding may have caused the coach to overturn. However, authorities had yet to announce the findings of any formal investigation into the cause of the crash.

Further details were expected as rescue and police operations continued at the site.
