LAHORE (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said a meeting has been held with the government committee and negotiations will begin from Monday.
However, JI will not enter into negotiations and sit-ins will continue, he added. Addressing the participants of the sit-in in the provincial capital, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that if the demands are not accepted, the entire country can be shut down by calling for a nationwide strike in the future.
He said that the petroleum levy is not acceptable under any circumstances, it has nothing to do with the prices of petroleum products. The government increased prices using the pretext of war and robbed the pockets of the people.
The people do not have access to safe travel facilities while inflation has reached its peak.
He said that the Punjab government and Maryam Nawaz should answer the public regarding the education of children as to why 11,000 schools were sold.
According to the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the state to provide free education to children up to matriculation.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that through continuous struggle, the rulers will be forced to retreat. With each passing day, awareness among the people is increasing and the government has become worried about the sit-ins of Jamaat-e-Islami.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said that if PTI marches on September 27, Jamaat-e-Islami will support it.
Every political party has the right to hold rallies, processions, marches and protests. PTI should also be allowed to protest in Punjab.
