DUBAI (Dunya News) – Pakistan suffered a heavy seven-wicket defeat against India in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai on Saturday, with their batting line-up collapsing for just 55 runs.
After winning the toss and electing to bat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan initially reached 27 for one but were unable to build on the start. India’s bowlers then tore through the remaining batting line-up, leaving Pakistan with their lowest-ever total in women’s T20 internationals.
The result gives Pakistan one victory and one defeat from their opening two matches of the tournament. They had started their campaign with a 35-run win over Thailand, but struggled to reproduce that performance against a strong Indian bowling attack.
Pakistan collapse
Pakistan’s innings began with Muneeba Ali and her opening partner helping the side reach 27 before the wickets began to tumble. Once India broke through, Pakistan lost nine wickets for only 28 runs, with the innings ending at 55 in 18.1 overs.
Shawaal Zulfiqar was Pakistan’s leading scorer with 14 from 14 deliveries, while Muneeba Ali made 13 from 15 balls. Tuba Hassan added nine runs, but no other Pakistan batter managed to reach double figures.
India’s bowling attack maintained pressure throughout the innings. Shree Charani was the standout performer, taking three wickets for only seven runs, while Prema Rawat also claimed three wickets for nine runs.
Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma added a wicket each as Pakistan struggled to find a way through the Indian attack. The early loss of wickets prevented Pakistan from establishing a competitive total and left India requiring only 56 runs for victory.
India complete chase
Pakistan needed early wickets to defend the small target, but India made steady progress towards the finish. The Indian side reached 56 for three in 10.4 overs to seal a seven-wicket victory.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with 18 runs, while Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma contributed 12 runs apiece. India kept the chase under control despite losing three wickets and reached the required total with plenty of deliveries remaining.
For Pakistan, the defeat comes after a positive opening match against Thailand, where they secured a 35-run victory. Their campaign now moves to another Group A fixture against Hong Kong on September 7, with Pakistan needing a stronger batting performance in their next outing.
India, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in the competition after previously defeating Thailand and Hong Kong.
