LAHORE (Dunya News) – Greek Ambassador Eleni Pouriki has highlighted growing opportunities for Pakistani skilled workers in Greece as the two countries look to expand trade, investment and economic cooperation beyond traditional sectors.
During a visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Greek envoy held talks with LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, focusing on strengthening bilateral trade and creating direct links between the business communities of the two countries.
Pouriki stressed that the private sector could play a significant role in deepening Pakistan-Greece economic relations and called for stronger business-to-business (B2B) contacts.
She said there was demand for Pakistani skilled manpower in Greece, with employment opportunities available in agriculture, engineering and other sectors.
The ambassador also underlined the need to diversify bilateral economic relations. Besides textiles, she identified tourism and renewable energy as areas offering considerable potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Greece.
Highlighting Greece's globally recognised tourism industry, Pouriki said her country could share its expertise in developing tourism infrastructure with Pakistan.
LCCI President Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol said Pakistan and Greece should explore greater cooperation in agriculture, minerals and mining, where partnerships could create new commercial opportunities.
He said Pakistan could benefit from Greek technology, expertise and experience in several sectors, particularly tourism.
Saigol called for greater exchanges of business delegations between the two countries and more B2B meetings to help entrepreneurs identify potential partners and investment opportunities.
Both sides agreed that closer interaction between the Pakistani and Greek private sectors could help unlock untapped trade potential and broaden bilateral economic relations.
The meeting also highlighted the scope for moving Pakistan-Greece commercial ties beyond conventional trade towards cooperation in technology, skilled manpower, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture and mineral development.
