LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the construction of a new building for the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) headquarters and ordered the restructuring of the department.
A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during which Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Uzma Zahid Bukhari gave a detailed briefing.
During the meeting, the chief minister directed the restructuring of the DGPR. She also approved the new building for the DGPR headquarters and directed immediate measures for the payment of outstanding dues to the media.
The chief minister also stressed the need for third-party validation to assess the performance of the DGPR.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said it was essential to meet the demands of the modern era to ensure the timely delivery of information to the public. She said communication had evolved from an art into a science and it was important to understand this transformation.
She said the government wanted to bring the DGPR in line with the requirements of the modern era, adding that society was passing through an age of an abundance of information.
Maryam Nawaz further said the public should be kept informed about the government’s welfare initiatives so they could distinguish between truth and falsehood. She also praised Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, saying she had set an exemplary standard in the field of communication.
