ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal government on Wednesday increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.29 and Rs1.11 per litre, respectively, amid volatility in international oil markets.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been fixed at Rs346.16 per litre, while HSD will now cost Rs372.09 per litre.

The revised prices will take effect from September 3, 2026, and will remain applicable for one day.

The latest increase comes as international oil prices remain volatile, with changes in global petroleum markets being reflected in domestic fuel rates.

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has started publishing daily petroleum prices on its website as part of efforts to improve transparency and ensure that fluctuations in international oil prices are passed on to consumers more quickly.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the daily prices are calculated on the basis of a seven-day average of international market prices, in line with international practice.

The move toward daily pricing is aimed at making the petroleum pricing mechanism more transparent while enabling consumers to receive the impact of international market movements more promptly.
