KARACHI (Dunya News) -The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) came under heavy selling pressure on Wednesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index plunging 1,690 points and ending the trading session deep in negative territory.

The KSE-100 closed at 174,776 points, reflecting broad-based weakness across the market during the third trading session of the week.

During the day, the benchmark touched an intraday high of 175,841 points, while its lowest level stood at 174,562 points.

Market breadth remained overwhelmingly negative. Of the 569 companies whose shares were traded, prices of only 113 companies advanced, while 356 companies declined.

Trading activity, however, remained substantial, with approximately 610 million shares changing hands during the session.

The total value of shares traded at the Pakistan Stock Exchange stood at around Rs31 billion.

The latest fall comes amid heightened volatility at the PSX, with the benchmark experiencing significant swings in recent trading sessions.
