Punjab Assembly has approved a resolution calling for a ban on social media use by children under 16, citing risks to their mental and moral development.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution calling for a ban on the use of social media by children below the age of 16.

The resolution was moved by government lawmaker Sarah Ahmad, who maintained that protecting the physical, mental and moral development of children was the responsibility of the state.

According to the resolution, inappropriate content available on social media is exposing children to psychological stress and various other risks.

The resolution called for measures to protect minors from potentially harmful online content by restricting social media access for children under 16.

The move reflects growing concern over the effects of social media on children and the need for stronger safeguards to protect minors in the digital environment.
